                                  Oxeye 
                                    Daisy(Chrysanthemum leucanthemum)
 
 
                        
                          
                            
                              The 
                                Oxeye Daisy is a rapidly spreading perennial that 
                                can be found dotting fields throughout the south 
                                and central part of British Columbia.  Oxeye 
                                Daisies have an odor that strongly resembles sage. 
                                The  
                                plants all grow to the same height and the  
                                stems branch near the top.  
                        
                          
                            
                              
  
                                
                                 
                                  LEAVES: 
                                     
                                  - 
                                    leaves near the base of the Oxeye Daisy are 
                                    wider and more rounded with teeth  
                                  - 
                                    leaves on the stem are toothed or lobed and 
                                    oblong in shape  
                                  - 
                                    dark green in colour  
                                  
                                  FLOWERS: 
                                     
                                  - 
                                    1-2 cm. yellow flower discs surrounded by 
                                    1-2 cm. long white ray petals  
                                  - 
                                    size of the entire flower can be up to 6 cm. 
                                     
                                  - 
                                    Oxeye Daisies bloom from May to July  
                                  
                                  FRUIT: 
                                     
                                  - 
                                    the achenes or small, one-seeded dry fruit 
                                    are black with 10 white ribs.  
                                  
                                  HABITAT: 
                                     
                                  - 
                                    The Oxeye Daisy is found in fields, meadows, 
                                    clearings and along roadsides  
                                  - 
                                    Oxeye Daisies grow in areas from the southern 
                                    to central British Columbia.  
                                  - 
                                    The Oxeye Daisy appears in low elevations.
