Fishing Report: Rose is a small lake however it provides fishermen with a good Brook trout fishery. Fall and winter (ice fishing) are the most productive seasons. Brookies will often reach 3lbs. in Rose. So if you're camping in the Roche Lake area; it is well worth your time to stop over and fish for these feisty brook trout.
Be sure to visit Fishbc.com for angling information!

Viewscape: Occupying a shallow basin that was shovelled out by flowing glaciers, Rose is at the edge of the Monte Hills which is part of the Thompson Plateau. Douglas fir, Lodgepole pine and Engelman spruce are the dominant tree species. The forest understory consists of squash berry and buffalo berry. Grasses, cattails, sedges and bulrushes are found in a somewhat poorly developed riparian fringe.

Shoreline: The backshore rises steeply for a short distance on the north, south and east shores and then gives way to a gentle slope leading away from the lake. The backshore on the west side is almost flat, and slopes towards Horseshoe Lake. Most of the lake has moderate drop-off slops from the shoreline. Aquatic plants are concentrated in the east and west areas of the lake.

Nearby Lakes

Horseshoe Lake - Horseshoe Lake is another small lake (12 ha./30ac.) located 2 km. (1.2 mi.) west of Roche Lake. If it hasn't been subject to winterkill, it can also provide a fine brook trout fishery. Like Rose, fall and winter (ice fishing) are the preferred seasons. Cartop boats can be launched and camping is available at Roche Lake. A truck is recommended to get into Horseshoe.

Note: Always check your current BC Fishing regulations before you start fishing a new lake.
